Masterclasses in Creative Writing

d5d694df-d6e2-42f6-9087-da9a7bdb097f

A ‘dip into’ reference book for writers. That was the suggestion made by students in Barbara Dynes’ creative writing classes. So here it is.

The idea is that you can a how-to book that you can refer to, dip into, when you have a writing problem. Your problem might be how to use flashback, whether to write in the third person, making smooth transitions, or any of the fifty subjects included in Barbara Dynes’ reference book. Under each heading you will find advice, instruction, examples (with analysis of their strengths), and exercises that will give you practice in putting what you have learned into effect.

Barbara’s book carries the sub-heading: Inspirational instruction and exercises for writers of fiction. And that encapsulates what it is all about, and makes it clear that this is a book for fiction writers.

And it is helpful for fiction writers at all levels: certainly for beginners but also for all those who ever hit problems with their work.
