Use a memorable railway experience to set a brand new piece of writing on track

Set the timer for five minutes. Free write about all the train journeys you have taken during your life. (Don’t forget the games you may have played as a child).

For the next five minutes, pick one of these journeys (real or imaginary) and write about the experience in the present tense. Remember to use all the senses.

For the last five minutes, create a poem, a flash fiction story or the first few paragraphs of a longer story that takes place in a railway station.
