Use something everyday and close to hand to inspire new creative writing in this week's exercise

Take a look around you and focus on an object close to you – e.g. a teapot, candle, pen, ornament. Write about it in detail. Describe it without saying what it is.

For the remaining time, create a poem or the first draft of a story that features this object. Play the ‘what if’ game. What if it featured in an argument between two people – or brought two lovers together? Does it have magic powers?
