Use a piece of jewellery as the spark to create a gem of a new piece of writing in this week's coffee break exercise

Focus on a memorable piece of jewellery – real or imaginary.  For five minutes jot down some information. What is special about it? Describe it in detail. Where was it made? Does it have magic powers?

For the next five minutes jot down some details about the person wearing it. Does it rightfully belong to them? How did it come into their possession?

For the remaining time, create the outline of a story beginning at the point where the piece of jewellery has been lost or stolen. What happens next?
