Can a painting provoke a new piece of creative writing? Find out in this week's coffee break exercise!

This works best if you can visit an art gallery or museum. Choose a painting that appeals to you and focus on it for five minutes. Imagine yourself walking into the painting. What is that world like? What do you see, hear and smell? Where are you? What happens next?

Find a quiet place, get yourself a coffee and write down as much detail as you can remember. Use the information to create a flash fiction or longer story. (This works well as a way of developing scenes in a novel).
