Frighten your readers silly with this week's creative writing exercise

Without thinking too much about it, write down three things that could go wrong. And then write three more things that frighten you.

Pick one of each of those things. Now imagine a scenario where one of the things has gone wrong, and as a result your central character will encounter the thing that frightens you. Now take ten minutes and write the opening paragraph of a ghost or horror story.
