Wendy E Constance has won first prize with her novel Like A Brother

Chicken House publisher and lead judge Barry Cunningham said: 'Wild animals and wild children make this a spirited and fiercely fun debut - a worthy winner!'

Like a Brother is set 13,000 years ago and follows two teenagers, Wild Horse and Blue Bird, as they flee across America.

The winner of last year's Times/Chicken House Children's Fiction Competition, The Poison Boy by Fletcher Moss, will be published by Chicken House on 4 April.
