The free-to-enter short story contest invites entries on the theme of 'a summer night'

Based in Berlin, The Reader Berlin offers author and publishing services and puts on salons, workshops and writer community events as well as running an annual summer short story competition.

Entries for this year's competition may be between 1,500 and 3,000 words and should be on the contest theme of 'a summer night'. The first prize is €100, publication by English-language culture and reportage magazine Exberliner and a goody bag. The second prize is €50, publication on Exberliner's website and a goody bag. The ten finalists will have their stories featured in a Reader Berlin showcase and the opportunity to perform them at a Reader Sunday Salon event in the autumn.

Writers may submit only one story.

The closing date is 31 May.
