The Wigtown Prize is worth £1,500 to the winner

The international Wigtown Poetry Prize welcomes entries from poets writing in English, and has separate categories for poets writing in Scots and Scottish Gaelic.

All entries should consist of original, unpublished poems no longer than 40 lines. The categories are:

• The Wigtown Prize: £1,500 and £200

• The Wigtown Scots Prize: £500 and £200

• Wigtown Scottish Gaelic Prize: £500 and £200

• Dumfries and Galloway Fresh Voice Award: Professional development and mentoring plus a retreat a Moniack Mhor

• Alastair Reid Pamphlet Prize: 30 copies of a pamphlet of the winner's work set by Gerry Cambridge

A selected winner will be invited to read at StAnza 2022.

The entry fee for the first poem is £6.50. For three poems the fee is £17. Each additional block of three costs £5, or £12 for three blocks.

The closing date is 31 May.
