The Society of Authors has launched the Paul Torday Memorial Prize
The new prize, in honour of Paul Torday, whose bestselling debut Salmon Fishing in the Yemen was published when he was 60, is for debut novels by writers aged 60 and over.
The winner will receive £1,000 and a set of Paul Torday's collected works.
To enter, print publishers should send five copies of the novel, which should have been published between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2018 and must be the author's first published full-length fiction book. Self-published and digital-only titles are not eligible.
The closing date is 15 November.
