Historical fiction prize: Sapere Books Writing Competition

Sapere Books is an independent digital publisher of commercial fiction in various genres. Its writing competition is for historical fiction writers, with the chance to win a contract to write a five-book series. Unpublished, self-published and established writers are all invited to enter.

To enter, writers are asked to choose one of six possible series and send a full synopsis (up to 2,000 words) and the first three chapters of the first book in the series (10,000-20,000 words). Ideas and brief outlines for the next four titles in the series are welcomed. Also send biographical information, and let Sapere Books know if you are a writer underrepresented in publishing.

Sapere Books hopes to award contracts for all six of the proposed series, which are:

• The Jane Austen Detective Series

• WWll Aviation Thrillers

• The Tudor Maid Diaries

• Age of Sail Series

• Borgias/Medici Crime Series

• Ancient Rome Historical Thrillers

The closing date to enter is 31 December.
