Two intensive Write Away weekends tackle self-publishing and starting to write
• The first weekend course, Write Away 1: Self-publishing, is curated by former publisher and current course leader for the MA in publishing at Kingston University, Dr Alison Baverstock (pictured). It takes place on 5 and 6 October, and features expert speakers from the publishing and self-publishing industries, including novelist Philip Hensher. There will be individual feedback for the participating writers on the course.
• The second course, Write Away 2: Starting to Write, takes place on 12 and 13 October and is also curated by Alison Baverstock. It includes sessions on plot development and planning with Greg Mosse, individual writer feedback, discussions with an editorial consultant and a senior editor, and a session with novelist Rachel Cusk.
Each weekend course costs £295 (not including accommodation) and takes place at the Greenway Hotel & Spa in Cheltenham.
