Win a £2,000 first prize for stories up to 250 words

One of the Scottish Arts Trust Story Awards, the Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction is an international contest for fiction on any subject, no longer than 250 words. Any writer may enter, whether published or unpublished.

The winner will receive £1,000 and there are second and third prizes of £300 and £150. The top three winners also get a year's free membership of the Scottish Arts Club in Edinburgh. The top twenty shortlisted writers will be invited to a Flash Bash at the Scottish Arts Club in February 2023. The £500 Golden Hare Award will be given to the best peice of flash fiction from a writer resident in Scotland. This year's judges are Zoe Strachan and Louise Welsh.

The entry fee is £7 per story. Free entry through the Scottish Arts Trust bursary fund is offered to writers in Scotland whose immediate family receives any kind of income support.

Entries open on 1 June. The closing date is 31 August.
