Use people heading off on an outing as the beginning of a new piece of writing
Where are they going, and what do they plan to do?
Who is in the group? How do they know each other, and what do they have in common.
Now, give each person something that’s on their mind as they set out with the group on the outing. How might this affect the group’s experience?

Then, write a passage that describes the group from the perspective of one of its members as they set out.
