Explore the way the cold makes you or a character feel in this week’s creative writing exercise
Think of a character or subject (it doesn’t need to be human) to write about. It could be you, if you’d like to write from life. What is their experience of the cold? How does it impact on them? Physically? Mentally? Emotionally?
What words and phrases best convey each experience, and generate a sense of coldness?
First of all, create words and sentences that express what someone experiences bodily and mentally when the temperature drops, and then, work on using them as the basis for creating a passage of prose of poetry with the theme of ‘cold’.
