Use the first spring flowers as a motif in your writing in today’s creative writing exercise

What qualities do you see in snowdrops? Hope, resilience, beauty? What do they symbolise to you? The first signs of spring? The ability of something small and fragile to triumph over the winter frost?

Write down your thoughts. Then, consider how you might use the snowdrop as a motif, ie an image, or a metaphor, that’s returned to within a piece of writing to draw the reader’s attention in a particular way, in a new story or poem.

Write for 20 minutes.
