Stuart’s writing career spans twenty years, largely in the fields of science fiction, fantasy and horror (with the occasional foray into romance and other genres), with short stories published in Britain and America, including publication in well-respected magazines such as Interzone and Aboriginal SF. He has also had a horror story in a hardback anthology published by US publisher Tor Books.

He has worked with software companies to develop storylines and scenarios for award-winning adventure games, run workshops in the community teaching creative writing skills, and written numerous articles for a variety of publications including, of course, Writing Magazine, where his column Fantastic Realms has been a monthly fixture for several years.

Most recently, Stuart has co-written the script for The Legend of Kawa the Blacksmith, the world’s first animated Kurdish feature film, which he also co-directed, producing versions of the film in both English and Kurdish.

Stuart tutors the following courses: Becoming a Successful Writer, Fiction Writing and Short Story Writing.

What Our Students Say

I am only just reading Unit 3 of this course and I have already learned so much and I'm having great fun too. Registering for this course has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Well done to everybody involved.

Please pass on my thanks and gratitude [for] Stuart's help with my questions. His answer and explanation has helped me immensely to understand where I was going wrong.
