Mary Charman-Smith

Mary is very experienced, both as a teacher and a writer. She teaches Creative Writing at Adult Education classes and also has taught English to Foreign Students for many years. As well as a BA in English Mary has the PGCE in Post Compulsory Education and the Diploma in TESOL from Brighton University.
 
Mary has had poems published in newspapers, magazines and anthologies and also placed in competitions. She loves both writing and reading poetry, her interest in it started as a child when she used to be taken for walks in the countryside and write nature poems when she got back.  

As an adult she went to university as a mature student, at the University College Chichester, and did the MA in Creative Writing for which she wrote poetry for her dissertation.  She has had many poems published including The Day is White, which was the result of winning an Indigo Dreams competition for poetry collections. Mary is also a qualified teacher and loves being a tutor on the poetry course.
