WM subscriber Dave Roberts has been shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award

Dave appeared in Members' News in the January 2011 issue of Writers' News with the news that he had landed a major deal with Transworld for 32 Programmes, which was published by Transworld imprint Bantam in August.

The shortlist for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award includes seven titles rather than the usual six as Paul Kimmage's Engage, which was not submitted for longlisting, was included on the shortlist after it had been brought to the attention of the judges.

The shortlist is:
Among The Fans: From Ashes to the Arrows, a Year of Watching the Watchers, Patrick Collins (Wisden Sports Writing); Into The Arena: The World of the Spanish Bullfight, Alexander Fiske-Harrison (Profile Books); The Ghost Runner: The Tragedy of the Man They Couldn't Stop, Bill Jones (Mainstream Publishing); Engage: The Fall and Rise of Matt Hampson, Paul Kimmage (Simon & Schuster); Racing Through The Dark: The Fall and Rise of David Millar, David Millar (Orion); A Life Too Short: The Tragedy of Robert Enke, Ronald Reng (Yellow Jersey Press); 32 Programmes, Dave Roberts (Bantam Press).

The winner will be announced on 28 November. Good luck Dave!
