The new prize is for unpublished Black British children's writers of picture books and chapter books
The inaugural Jericho Prize is for new writing for children aged four years plus (picture books) and seven to nine (short chapter books). The competition is open to unpublished Black British writers. Each submission must include a Black or mixed-Black main character.
The winner in each category will receive £500, an editorial consultancy and a design consultancy.
To enter, submit a manuscript for a picture book for readers aged four-plus (max 800 words) or a short chapter book (10,000-15,000 words) for children aged seven to nine.

Submissions open on 2 August and close on 2 September.
