Writing event: London Writers' Week

The annual week-long celebration of new writing in the UK starts on 4 July

This year's theme is providing access to, and showcasing, the best ideas going in new writing in the UK.

London Writers’ Week’s partners are Writers at Work Productions, the MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins, The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, BBC Writersroom, the National Association of Writers in Education and the London Playwrights Blog.

Jennifer Tuckett, director of London Writers’ Week and the course leader for MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins said: 'London Writers’ Week was founded last year with the aim of providing access to and showcasing the best new ideas going on in terms of writing in the UK. We’re delighted that this year’s focus is theatre writing and we hope the week provides access, in one week, to some of the most interesting theatre writing and theatre writing ideas going on in the UK. There should be something for everyone – from students to the public to writers and the industry.'

The programme of events during London Writers' Week includes a Central St Martins day on the future of dramatic writing training, a showcase of the new Dark Horse festival for unproduced plays, a masterclass with BBC Writersroom's Anne Edyvean and a workshop with theatre maker Tim Crouch.
