For its 40th birthday, Bradt has again teamed up with The Independent to offer trips and and travel writing commissions as prizes
The theme for this year's competition is 'meeting the challenge.' Entries must be travel writing, based on personal experience, between 600 and 800 words.
• The first prize is publication of the winning piece in The Independent on Sunday, a holiday for two in Canada plus a commission to write about the trip in The IoS.
• The prize for the best unpublished writer is a holiday for two in northern France, the opportunity to write about the trip for The Independent's website, and a place on a travel writing weekend run by Travellers' Tales.
• The best young writer (between 18 and 21) will win a place on a one-day Bradt travel writing workshop and five Bradt guides.
The closing date is 29 June.
