The Guardian's International Development Journalism Competition is looking for submissions on global poverty

Now in its fifth year, the competition is run in association with various NGOs, and the themes reflect the issues that are the NGOs' focus.
This year the themes include the dangers to African women of giving birth; malnutrition; the legacy of HIV, and advancing women's rights in fragile states.

The competition is for feature articles of 650-1,000 words on an aspect of global poverty covered by the themes. The features should be supported by factual evidence. 16 finalists (eight professional; eight amateur), will be sent on assignment to Asia or Africa to write a feature that will be published in a special Guardian supplement later in the year.

All entries must be uploaded through the website, where entrants can read the 16 themes, and terms of entry.

The closing date is 3 May.
