The dictionary-eating writer and critic will take up his new position as professor of contemporary thought at Brunel University next week
Will Self will teach graduate and undergraduate students in his new role. In a piece in today's Guardian called Why I Said Yes to Professor Self, he describes his reasons for accepting the job. 'That tertiary education is under a sustained assault by a political and – it often seems – social consensus that equates all education with training for increased productivity, only makes academe a still more promising environment for a contrarian,' he writes.
