Looters are not interested in reading the riot act as bookshops largely unaffected ...
Waterstones bookshop in Clapham Junction was the only shop not to be looted by rioters, according to Zoe Williams in The Guardian.

Neither Waterstones nor W H Smith have reported damage to their London outlets during the rioting, and independent bookshops in the areas worst hit by rioting were not targetted for looting, although Pages of Hackney closed early and The Big Green Bookshop cancelled its book club.

As reported on this site yesterday, Gay's The Word bookshop in Bloomsbury had its windows kicked in and was pelted with eggs.
