Marian has chosen to sponsor a place on Curtis Brown Creative's online novel-writing course to make the opportunity as wide-reaching and inclusive as possible. Writers from under-represented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. The course runs between 10 September and 4 March and will be taught by Lisa O'Donnell.

To apply, writers should either be unmarried and not cohabiting, with an annual income of less than £25,000 and personal savings of less than £5,000, or married or cohabiting with a total household income of less than £35,000 and personal savings of less than £5,000. Writers who do not fit these criteria but feel their personal financial circumstances merit the opportunity to apply should include their information on the application form.

To apply for the Marian Keyes Scholarship, send 3,000 words of a work in progress and a one-page synopsis, and complete the online application form.

The closing date to apply is 29 July.
