Winners in each of the eleven shortlisted categories will be revealed at a ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge on 4 November

The categories are: Galaxy book of the year; audible.co.uk Audiobook of the year ; Popular Fiction Book of the Year; Thriller & Crime Novel of the Year in association with ibookstore; Popular Non-Fiction Book of the Year; New Writer of the Year; National Book Tokens Children’s Book of the Year; Food & Drink Book of the Year; Biography/Autobiography of the Year; International Author of the Year; Waterstone's UK Author of the Year; WHSmith Paperback of the Year; Lifetime Achievement Award.

Alan Hollinghurst (pictured), whose ommision from the Man Booker Prize shortlist surprised many in the literary world, is shortlisted in the Waterstone's UK Author of the Year category. Julian Barnes, who won this year's Booker, is shortlisted in the same category.
