Disappointed by diminishing markets for short stories, subscriber Stuart Allison - who writes as Stuart Aken - took matters into his own hands.

‘Having compiled and edited an anthology for my writing group, I decided to do one for my own speculative fiction,' says Stuart.

Ten Tales for Tomorrow, Stuart Aken'Selecting the stories, some contest prizewinners, and others published in small magazines, was the easy part. Preparing the original Word documents for transfer to ebook via Smashwords, and then for Kindle, was an exacting and sometimes tedious task. But the effort was well rewarded when the text was produced in pristine form for ereaders. Cover design followed. Selecting one of my own images and some available from online free image sites, I used Adobe Elements to construct the finished design. The results can be seen in Ten Tales for Tomorrow, available for all platforms at Smashwords (64p) and at the Amazon Kindle Store for 74p.

‘I intend to do more anthologies as ebooks. I have a number of stories written around the farm I lived on, and others loosely based on events from my life, so I’ll compile these. It’s an excellent way of exposing your writing to more readers.’
