The newly aligned pro-library organisers and campaigners are protesting about a public library service they say is 'in crisis.'
Research from Unison, who are part of Speak Up For Libraries, shows that since April 2011, more than 100 libraries have either been closed, are being run by volunteers of have been turned into social enterprises. SUFL, which also includes Campaign For The Books, The National Federation of Women's Instities, CILIP, Voices for the LIbrary and The Library Campaign, wants the government 'to recognise the crisis...and to take urgent action.'
Major authors on today's rally and lobby, which starts today at 11.30 in Westminster, include Kate Mosse and Philip Ardagh. The lobby will take place at 2.30pm.
