The Irish Times is running a short story series and writing competition to mark the centenary of the Great War
Eight short stories will be published on the general theme This Means War. The theme is open to whatever interpretation the writer wishes to place on it.
The last story in the series will be chosen through a writing competition. The author of the winning story will be published in The Irish Times and receive €400 and an original artwork by Brendon Deasy.
Stories are accepted from international writers whether new or published. All entries to This Means War must be original, unpublished and between 1,500 and 2,800 words.
The closing date is 8 August.
