Storgy's latest writing competition invites strange, imaginative tales relating to the fictional town of Shallow Creek

The Shallow Creek short story competition is based in the idea that the owner of an occult curiosity shop has invited writers to visit the strange town and be inspired to create new, nerve-jangling short stories. Storgy's aim is to create an anthology of weird tales that interlink with each other.

When each writer signs up for the competition they will be provided with a map of Shallow Creek and a character, location and item that must be included in their story submission.

The competition, which is for stories up to 5,000 words, will be judged by author Naomi Booth. There is a first prize of £500, a second prize of £100 and a third prize of £50. The entry fee is £10.

The closing date is 31 August.
