The winner of the contest for women and non-binary playwrights wil receive £12,000, a production and a published script

The Women's Prize for Playwriting was founded by Ellie Keel and Paines Plough to rederess an historic imbalance: in 2018 only 26% of new main stage plays in the UK were by women.

The prize is for women and non-binary playwrights based in the UK, Republic of Ireland or British Overseas territory. Enter original, unpublished and unperformed scripts written for the stage of at least one hour in playing time.

Winners receive £12,000. Their script will be optioned for production by the Women's Prize for Playwriting, Ellie Keel Productions and Paines Plough, and published by Concord Theatricals.

Entry is free. Each writer may enter one script.

The closing date is 17 April.
