The first Free With Words Scholarship offers a place on the 2019 Novel, Short Story and Memoir retreat in Italy
One free place at the retreat, which offers daily workshops with award-winning author and Faber Academy tutor Paul McVeigh, will be awarded to a writer from a disadvantaged background.
Applicants must be from one of the following groups: the LGBTI community; socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds; ethnic minorities including Traveller and Roma communities; lone parents.
The retreat at Villalta in Arezzo takes place in September and includes daily writing workshops, seven nights accommodation and all meals and wine. Travel to and from the retreat is not included.
