Sophia Bennett wins The Goldsboro Books Romantic Novel of the Year 2017 for YA novel Love Song
It's only the second time in its 57-year history that the Romantic Novelists' Association's top prize has been won by a young adult novel. Sophia was presented with her £5,000 prize at a ceremony last night.
Eileen Ramsay, chairman of the RNA, said: ‘This is the second year that a young adult novel has won the overall award, demonstrating the growing appeal of YA fiction. This wonderful story celebrates the sensitive treatment of first love. Huge congratulations to a very deserving winner!’
At the same ceremony, the Romantic Novel of the Year category winners were also announced. They are: contemporary romantic novel: Debbie Johnson, Summer at the Comfort Food Café; epic romantic novel: Janet Gover, Little Girl Lost; historical romantic novel: Kate Kerrigan, It Was Only Ever You; speculative romantic novel: Kate Johnson, Max Seventeen; romantic comedy novel: Penny Parkes, Out of Practice; RoNa Rose: Scarlet Wilson, Christmas in the Boss's Castle.
Outstanding achievement awards were presented to Barbara Erskine and Adele Parks.
Congratulations to all the winners!
