The women's poetry competition has categories for single poems and collections
The Mslexia Poetry Competition is for original, unpublished poems by women writers, of any length, in any style and on any subject. The judge is Karen McCarthy-Woolf. There is a first prize of £2,000 plus a one-to-one feedback session with Malika Booker and a week-long writing retreat at Cove Park in Scotland. The second and third prizes are £500 and £250, and 17 runners up each receive £25. There is also a special £250 prize for the best poem by an unpublished woman poet. All winners will be published in the March 2021 issue of Mslexia. The entry fee of £10 allows three poems to be entered.
The Mslexia Pamphlet Competition is for completed collections of up to 20 pages (up to 24 poems). Poems may be in any style, of any length and on any subject. The judge is Amy Wack. The winner will receive £250 and their pamphlet will be published by Seren. Mslexia will publish one or more poems from the pamhlet in June 2021. The entry free is £20 per collection.
The closing date is 7 December.
