The competition from Paisley Book Festival is for short poems that tell great poems of Scotland today

The competition's theme is 'Scotland's Stories'. Entries might be narrative mini-epics dealing in heroes and great deeds, ballads of love and loss or more contemporary Scottlsh tales of journeys, chance encouters and intriguing characters.

To be eligible to enter, writers should live or have lived in Scotland, or been born there.

Shortlisted writers will have their work presented at the Paisley Book Festival 200 In February, and published in a pamphlet. The winner of the Janet Coats Memorial Prize will receive £850.

Enter poems up to 40 lines.

Entry is free. Each writer may submit one poem.
