Win a £1,000 first prize in the annual contest for single poems

The Café Writers Poetry Competition is inviting entries of original, unpublished poems up to 40 lines. Poems may be in any style or form, and on any subject.

The first prize is £1,000. The second prize is £300, and the third, £200. Five commended poets will each win £50, and there is a special £100 Norfolk Prize for the best poem by a Norfolk resident not winning another prize. The sole judge is poet Jennifer Wong.

The entry fee is £4 per poem, of £10 for three and £2 per poem thereafter. One free entry is offered for any writer with a household income of less than £16,000 for whom the cost of entry would be prohibitive.

The closing date is 14 November.
