The theme celebrates the hope and optimism it takes for refugees to build a new life
Freedom from Torture is inviting entries for its annual poetry competitition, which is part of its literary festival. Winners will be invited to read their poems at a live event at the London Library.
To enter, send original poems on the theme, of any length. This year's judges are eminent author Alan Hollingsworth and Ambit editor and author Kirsty Allison. The winning poem will be published in Ambit and all winners will have their work published on Freedom from Torture's website.
Entry is a £5 donation to Freedom from Torture.
The closing date is 28 October.
