The competition from Creagan Writers Circle invites poets to find a deeper layer in their own writing

In the first round, which is free to enter, poets are invited to send a poem up to 40 lines with the title 'Grace I ask'.

The top 100 poems will be moved into the second round, where the judges select a line from the poet's entry. As the competition has the aim of getting writers to dig deeer into their own creativity, each second-round poet must then create a new poem with their own line as the title. The reading fee for this round is £8.

The first prize is £250. There are second, third and fourth prizes of £150, £100 and £50. Prizewinning poems will be published online and considered for publication in a forthcoming anthology to be titled The Layer Deeper.

Only one poem entry is allowed per poet.

The closing date to submit for the first round is 31 July.
