The annual international contest is for poetry in translation
The Stephen Spender Prize is an annual contest for poetry in translation, with an open category for adutls as well as categories for young poets including, this year, a Portuguese Spotlight.
The open category is for English translations of poems in any language (up to 60 lines) plus a commentary in English no longer than 300 words. The prizes are £1,000, 500 and £250. The entry fee is £10 per translated poem.
The three winners' work will be published in the 2024 Stephen Spender Prize booklet and online. The first prize winner's work will be published in Modern Poetry in Translation magazine.
The closing date is 31 July.
