Win a grand prize of $2,000 in the international competition

CRAFT, the US online literary journal devoted to the craft of literary fiction, is inviting entries of unpublished novel or novella extracts for its First Chapters Competition.

The winner will receive $2,000 and a manuscript critique of up to 100,000 words. There are second and third prizes of $500 and $300. Literary agent Samantha Fingerhut of Compass Talent will review the top three entries and offer feedback on the first 25 pages. The three winning extracts will be published in CRAFT with an introduction by judge Naomi Huffman and an accompanying essay by the writer.

To enter, submit the first 6,000 words of an unpublished novel or novella. The excerpt may be from a completed work or a work in progress.

The entry fee is $20 per extract.

The closing date is 31 July.
