Crime writer Michael Connelly has become the seventh author to have sold more than 1 million ebooks on Amazon's Kindle.

Michael, whose latest, 23rd, novel is The Fifth Witness, follows Stieg Larsson, James Patterson, Nora Roberts, Charlaine Harris, Lee Child and Suzanne Collins in reaching the million-mark for the device.

"As a storyteller it brings me particular fulfillment to know so many readers are receiving my work through the Kindle," said Michael. "Added to that, my name is now on a list of an amazing group of writers. I am very proud of this moment."

The movie adaptation of his novel, The Lincoln Lawyer, starring Michael McConaughey, is out now.

• Michael last featured in Writing Magazine as the star interview in August 2009; Charlaine Harris was in April 2010; Lee Child was interviewed in our May 2011 issue. We also interviewed Steven T Murray, whose work appears on this list (he is translator for Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy), in our April 2011 issue. We're working on the others.
