The competition with be judged by Niamh Boyce (pictured).

The best entry in each category will get €300, with an extra €400 for the overall winner, who will be given the title Over the Edge New Writer of the Year.

Salmon Poetry will read, without commitment to publish, a collection of the poetry winner's work, and Doire Press will read, without commitment to publish, a collection of short stories by the winner of the fiction category.

Submit fiction up to 3,000 words, and three poems up to 40 lines, or one poem up to 100 lines.

There is a fee of €10 per entry.

The closing date to enter the Over the Edge New Writer of the Year competition is 3 August.
