The Writers & Artists competition is for a piece of writing that evokes a historical time and place
There is a first prize of £150, plus two tickets for Beamish Museum and a copy of Writing Historical Fiction: A Writers & Artists Companion. There are two runners-up prizes of £25 and a copy of the book.
Entries may be up to 1,000 words. They may be standalone stories or an extract from a longer work, but they must be original and unpublished. Entries must be set in the real world, but may have fantastical elements.
The competition is free to enter. The closing date is 11 May.
