Four emerging comedy writers will each be awarded £10,000 and take part in a personalised script development programme
The new script development programme comes from the Cinema and TV Benevolent Fund (CTBF) in partnership with Big Talk Productions and LOCO (The London Comedy Film Festival). Four emerging writers will be funded and awarded a personalised 7-month programme of industry support to develop a comedy feature film screenplay or a pilot script for a narrative comedy television series.
At the end of the development period, the feature screenplays and television pilots will be presented as a live, full cast table read to an industry audience at a special LOCO event in spring 2017.
The programme honours the legacy of Betty Box and Peter Rogers, respectively the producers of the Doctor and Carry On series, who left in their wills an endowment to the CTBF.
To apply, writers must have a minimum of two years' experience behind the scenes in film and/or TV, and must not have a previous professional writing credit on a theatrically released feature, or a sole writing credit for a broadcast scripted TV programme.
The closing date to apply for The Betty Box and Peter Rogers Comedy Writing Programme is 26 August.
