Win a publishing deal with HQ for a novel featuring a woman aged over 40 by an unpublished woman writer over 40
Gransnet has teamed up with Harper Collins imprint HQ for a fiction writing competition for women writers in the UK aged over 40. The competition, which responds to a Gransnet survey revealing that more than half of respondents think there are not enought books with middle-aged or older characters, is looking for unpublished novel-length fiction featuring a leading character aged over 40.
The winner will be offered a publishing contract with Harper HQ for publication in ebook. Five shortlisted entrants will be offered a submission critique by an HQ editor.
To enter, writers must not previously have had a book published. Submit the first 20,000 words of a completed novel of at least 85,000 words, and a one-page synopsis.
Entry is free. Writers may submit only one entry.
The closing date is 30 September.
