The annual writing competition celebrates the life of writer and dancer Helene James, who died in 2010
With prizes of £100 plus a bottle of Champagne, £50 and £25, the competition is for short stories with no set theme or subject. Helene James' interests included Champagne, travel and customs in different countries, animals, watching sunsets, feeling the music and sharing knowledge and wisdom, and writers are welcome to use these themes, although their stories will not receive preferential treatment.
There is a £4 fee for entry, and the closing date is 1 July.
An entry form, and the winning entries from the last two competitions, are available on the Ifanca Helene James Short Story Competition website.
