The award-winning creator of the Commissario Guido Brunetti mysteries will make an appearance on 29 March.

'Donna Leon is one of Europe’s leading writers of detective fiction,' said Carlo Presenti, director of the Italian Cultural Institute, 'and this is an exciting opportunity to hear her speak about her writing and her beloved Venice.'

Donna Leon has lived in Venice since the 1970s. On 5 April, her 21st Brunetti novel, Beastly Things, will be published.

Donna Leon will be in conversation with crime-writing expert Maxim Jakubowski from 7pm.

She will also be appearing at the Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival on 26 and 27 March.
