The winner of the competition to find a new woman crime writer will win a Virago publishing contract
Virago, which has been at the forefront of women's publishing since its foundation in 1973, has joined up with The Pool, a digital platform for women, to find an exceptional new female crime writer for Virago.
The winner will get a Virago publishing contract with a £7,500 advance, and two hours of mentoring with author Jill Dawson.
The competition is for debut writers. To enter, submit a proposal for a crime or thriller novel consisting of a 5,000-word sample and a 500-word synopsis of the plot of the novel.
As Virago is an imprint for women authors, the Virago/The Pool New Crime Writer Award is only open to women. Entry is free. Writers may submit only one entry.
The closing date is 21 May.
