Creative writing prizes: The Northern Writers' Awards 2024

The latest round of Awards is open for entry

The current round of Northern Writers' Awards for 2024 comprises:

• The Tempest Award. This new £1,000 prize for new poetry, fiction and non-fiction by LGBTQ+ writers has been founded by poet and writer Andrew McMillan.

• The Finchale Award for Short Fiction: The £1,500 prize is for a single unpublshed short story up to 1,500 words.

 The Sid Chaplin Award: The award has a £2,000 bursary and is given for fiction and narrative non-fiction by writers from a working class background.

Writers from the North of England may apply for the Awards up to the closng date of 28 March.
